Substation Automation system is not only supposed to have the functions of controlling, surveillance and protection, but also should have the interoperability--- no barrier in information share among the equipments of different manufacturers, which enables the substation automation system become an open system compatible with all equipments of different manufacturers.
Thus, International Electro Technical Commission(IEC)elaborate the Internal communication network for substation and Standard System IEC 61850.
Information exchange of IEC61850 is based on digitization. Now our company is developing the digital protection relay test set based on IEC61850-9-1.
There are two kinds of text of IEC 61850, one is sampling value text, and the other is GOOSE text. GOOSE text reflects the information of system state. Sampling value text reflects the digital value of sampling current and voltage.
After the calculation of the analog signal sent by the relay test set, the protection relay will send the GOOSE text to the relay test set to indicate the incoming changes of system state on condition that GOOSE text is applied in traditional analog signal protection and in communication of relay test set. The relay test set should be able to receive the GOOSE text and display it. The picture below shows the GOOSE text received.
